Caltex creative lunchbox ideas

Snail sandwiches

1 slice brown bread (crusts removed)

1 Slice white bread (crusts removed)

Peanut butter


2 chocolate chips

Celery or carrots cut into narrow 4 sticks, each 2cm long.


Place slices of bread on work surface, overlapping the edges to form a large rectangular shape of bread.

Roll the bread flat with an empty glass bottle or rolling pin.

Spread peanut butter over the surface of the bread.

From the short side of the rectangle, roll up the bread into a roll, leaving the end open to form the neck of the snail.

Cut the roll in half to make two rolls, turn the rolls to show the swirls.

Use the chocolate chips to make an eye on each snail.

Use carrots or celery to make feelers for each snail.


Fruit sticks

Pineapple slices

Green grapes

Sweet melon slices

cocktail sticks


Using star or heart cookie cutters, cut out shapes from the slices of fruit.

Thread the fruit onto the cocktail sticks to make mini kekabs

Fruit Slushy

200ml mango and orange juice

2 slices of pineapple, peeled, cored and cut into chunks (or left over fruit from fruit sticks)



Place all ingredients into a food processor and blitz until smooth.

Place juice into a freezer proof bottle( allow for expansion, by leaving space at the top of the bottle) 

Remove from the freezer the morning before school, it will be slushy by break time.
