Chinese Lantern Découpage
With découpage you can use any pretty paper or fabric to add some floral flair to your décor. Here are a few projects to inspire you. Simply get your pot of modge podge and a paint brush and soon you’ll be wanting to decoupage just about anything.
You will need:
- Chinese-style paper lantern
- floral serviettes
- modge podge
- craft paint brush
- small sharp scissors
Steps:
1. Cut out the flower shapes on the serviettes and pull the bottom layer off so that only the printed part remains.
NOTE Rather don’t use flower designs that are too big – it will be difficult to handle them.
2. Arrange the flowers more or less in the way you want to use them and then begin to decoupage them on to the lantern, starting at one side. Paint a little modge podge onto the lantern, place a flower on top and paint over a little more modge podge.
3. Découpage all the flowers in this way, smoothing them lightly as you work so they don’t crinkle. You can cover the whole lantern or just a section.
4. Leave to dry and then seal with another layer of modge podge.
