Coffee Rub Burgers
Makes 6
Ingredients:
Coffee Rub:
- 15ml (1Tbs) finely ground coffee
- 10ml (2tsp) brown sugar
- 10ml (2tsp) coarsely ground black pepper
- 2,5ml (1/2 tsp) ground coriander
- 2,5ml (1/2 tsp) dried oregano
- 2,5ml (1/2 tsp) salt
Burgers:
- 2 thick slices of white bread, crusts removed
- 125ml (1/2 cup) milk
- 1kg quality beef mince
- 1 onion, finely grated
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 10ml (2tsp) Worcestershire sauce
To serve:
- 6 hamburger rolls
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- 1 onion, sliced
- Barbecue sauce
Method:
- Combine all the ingredients together for the coffee rub and set aside.
- For the burgers soak the bread in the milk for 10 minutes. Squeeze out the bread and add to the mince and discard the milk. Add the onion, seasoning and Worcestershire sauce. Mix through and shape into 6 large burger patties.
- Coat each burger in coffee rub and preheat the grill. Grill the burgers for 5-7 minutes on one side and turn and grill on the other side.
- Serve on hamburger rolls garnished with lettuce, tomato, onions slices and a dollop of barbecue sauce.
