About the film
SHARKY MOLOI (Sivuyile ‘Siv’ Ngesi) is a good, honest African who has put the mischievous, often criminal ways of his past behind him. Together with his pregnant girlfriend, ASTARA (Precious Kofi), they are happily expecting a baby girl. He has the ring, the proposal and the romantic breakfast prepared. Unfortunately, he also has JABU (Lukhanyo Bele), a thief and a scoundrel friend from the past to contend with. With a lone-shark by the name of PEARL (Alfred ‘Shorty’ Ntombela) on his case, Sharky is forced to do one last “job” with Jabu in order to clear his debt, having borrowed money to buy the engagement ring.
JAN VENTER (Rob van Vuuren), on the other hand is a chain smoking, semi-alcoholic police detective whose wife, MOIRA (Casey B Dolan), has left him for DUBE (Anthony Oseyemi), a successful state prosecutor who is connected to the Police Commissioner (Loyiso Gola). After assaulting Dube, Jan’s commanding officer, Captain Kruger (Grant Swanby), suspends him from the force, and he winds up working for a Security firm protecting a high-end science and medical facility.
At the R-Labs Testing Laboratory, DR. FRONTOSA (Adam Neill), a genius cripple bound to an electronic wheel chair, and his assistant MILO (Vaneshran Arumugam), manage genetically to cross-mutate a rabbit and a dog, sending the consciousness of one into the body of the other. And it is here, at the facility, that Sharky and Venter inevitably cross paths; Sharky, working with Jabu, to steal the formula, and Venter, working for SecureForce, watching guard over the facility. After a showdown in the Laboratory between Sharky and Venter, Jabu makes his escape and DE KOCK (Nik Rabinowitz), Venter’s security partner accidentally tazers the two men just as the formula is shattered on the floor.
As the smoke settles and the two men stagger off into the night, we discover that Sharky and Venter have swapped bodies. Black Venter is arrested on the scene while White Sharky makes his escape, and it is only then that each man realizes what has happened.
After a lawyer gets Black Venter released, he tracks White Sharky down to his home, where the terrified thief is hiding out. A terrific fisty-cuffs ensues between the two of them, and on finally settling down, exhausted and in pain, they realize what caused the swap. Having to work together, but not liking it very much, they set out to track Jabu and the stolen vial of formula down in order to shock themselves back to normality.
Jabu has gone to Astara’s baby shower, hosted by her parents CONSTANCE and SIZWE Ralapele (Thembi Mtshalla-Jones & SIzwe Nsutu). Black Venter has reluctantly to pose as Sharky in order to infiltrate the baby shower. This becomes disastrous to Sharky’s already rocky relationship with his future in-laws who already dislike him and believe he is not good enough for their daughter.
With Jabu in tow and Sharky’s reputation barely intact, Black Venter and White Sharky track down the formula to a Chinese restaurant run by MR CHAN (Papa San), a smuggler for the Chinese Triads. The final showdown reveals that Milo has double crossed Dr Frontosa and orchestrated the heist of the formula for his own financial gain. Before Black Venter and White Sharky can stop him, Frontosa attacks Milo destroying the last of the formula. Dr Frontosa switches into Milo’s body and gets his revenge, leaving Milo trapped in the crippled body of Frontosa.
Much to their annoyance, Black Venter and White Sharky are stuck in each others bodies until Frontosa can recreate the formula and switch them back to normal; but this may take some time!
