Greek Dancing 

The dancers from Mykanos Taveran perform dances including the Kalamationo dance. This dance is performed at many social gatherings worldwide. It's danced in a circle, counterclockwise, with dancers holding hands or linked by holding handkerchiefs. It's a joyous and festive dance and danced to a musical 7/8 beat. 

Meaning/symbolism of plate smashing: 

1. Fooling malicious spirits into thinking event is violent one when in fact it isn't!

2. Noise is known to drive away evil spirits

3. In the past, newlywed couple would smash ceramics in the doorway of their new home to chase away any evil spirits from their matrimonial home.

Mykanos Taverna

Mykonos Taverna first opened in the early 80's and was owner run by Peter Peroglou and well renowned for its festive atmosphere and outstanding qualitydishes. After 19 years Mykonos has re-opened  its doors and is now run by Peter's son, Dimitri.

Following exactly in his father footsteps, Dimitri has continued to serveexcellent authentic Greek foods such as signiture dishes, which exceed their reputation, for example Peter's Kleftiko Lamb.
