Grilled Sponge Cake With Flambéed Oranges
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 4 slices sponge cake
- 2 Tbs butter
- 4 Tbs Selati Demerara Sugar
- 4 oranges, peeled and segmented with the juice reserved
- ¼ cup brandy
- Ice cream to serve
Method:
- Place the sponge cake on the braai until lightly toasted.
- In a pan, melt the butter and the sugar.
- Add the orange juice and segments then bring to the boil.
- Add the brandy and flambé until all the alcohol is burned off.
- Spoon the oranges onto the sponge cake then top with a scoop of ice cream to serve.
