About Congo Rose:

Congo Rose is Africa Remixed.Africa has a distinctive way of communicating through fabrics. Each pattern tells a story.

Our Story is about our love for the bold designs and vibrant colours of traditional African cloth and our desire to showcase these striking cloths by incorporating them into unique and contemporary designs.

Our Fabrics have been collected from all over the African continent, carefully chosen in the local markets and handmade into our original designs in Cape Town, South Africa. We suffer from a severe case of wanderlust so our fabrics are constantly changing and in fact we seldom buy more than 10m of any fabric, so almost every piece will be a one off.

Our Passion is for the people of Africa, especially the women. We believe that by producing locally we are making a positive impact in the lives of these women and the many people they support within their families and communities. Each salary in South Africa supports approximately 7 people. Your purchase will have gone through many hands, uplifting and supporting all those along the way.

Our Production is based on principals of fair trade. We work in a spirit of partnership with all persons involved in the production. We are committed to building our products to an exceptional standard of quality and utility, whilst keeping our commitment to the values of respect, integrity and responsibility in all that we do during this process. All products are produced by highly talented seamstresses.

Our Creations are bought by charismatic people who celebrate their individuality by choosing something unique, inspired and exceptionally well made. They embrace lifestyle diversity and creativity.

Africa is our home. The diverse mix of cultures, countries, landscapes, customs and people are where we draw our inspiration from.. .............. take a journey to Africa with Congo Rose.

"The darkest thing about Africa has always been our ignorance of it". George Kimble.

Through Congo Rose we would like to raise awareness of the African continent.

Adopt a Congo Rose teddy bear and give HIV-infected women a chance at a better future for themselves and their children.

WUCT is a non-profit organisation, and is taking care of unemployed women who are either infected or affected by HIV/AIDS living in the Western Cape.

The Congo Rose teddy bears are made from the off cuts of brightly coloured African wax printed fabrics collected from all over Africa. This bear is made to a high standard, each with a unique character. By using off cuts that would previously have been discarded, the teddy bear also contributes to a better environment. The products are sold in several shops in South Africa and are available through the internet as well for international sales. The teddy bears come with their own passport, so you can literally adopt them to give the women and their children a hopeful future!

WUCT is assisting the residents of Westlake Village who were previously living in shacks and have now been rehoused in low-cost government housing, to improve their quality of life and to become a self-sustaining, thriving community. The Congo Rose teddy bear project is one of their many project to help giving these women a better life. By adopting a Congo Rose teddy bear you can make a difference for these people!
