Movember
Movember is Changing the Face of Men’s Health around the globe. Mo Bro’s start the month with a clean-shaven face and for the rest of November (Movember), groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.
They seek out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts and at the end of the month, celebrate by hosting their own Movember party or attend one of Movember’s Gala Partés.
Why the Mo?
Movember is about bringing back the moustache for a serious cause and sees Mo Bros, supported by the Mo Sistas in their lives, effectively becoming walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions raising awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of Men’s Health, especially with regards to prostrate and testicular cancers. All funds raised in South Africa go directly to CANSA’s Men’s Health Programmes for prostate and testicular cancers.
The Importance of Mo Sistas
Mo Sistas play an important role in Movember, by registering and supporting the men in their lives, they share in Movember’s Vision to Change the Face of Men’s Health.
Corporate Mo Challenge
Corporates are challenged to join one of the official Movember Industry Challenges and compete with other Mo Bro’s across their sector and around South Africa to see who takes the title and holds bragging rights for a year. The challenges seek to bring together companies in the same industry in a fun, competitive environment, rewarding the highest fundraisers and best Mo growers with prizes.
When registering on www.movember.com, companies must choose the option of starting a team – someone would need to register first as a team captain before other members could join the team. Once registered, everyone is able to create a Mo Space page where they can upload a pic or a logo of the company or team and from the Mo Space page they can use email, Facebook, Twitter, etc to invite members to join their team or people to donate – these options are listed on the right hand side of the Mo Space pages.
