Traditional Chakalaka
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- Cooking oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 chillies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp Hinds ground ginger
- 2 tsp Pakco Roasted Masala
- ¼ cup Pakco mixed vegetable pickle
- 2 carrots, grated
- 150ml water
- 1 tin Tomango baked beans
- Salt and pepper
Method:
- Sauté the onion, green pepper, garlic and chillies in a pot over medium heat until golden brown.
- Add the spices and stir gently.
- Add the grated carrot and Pakco pickle then stir to coat in the spices.
- Stir in the 150 ml water and the baked beans then allow to cook gently for 2-3 minutes.
- Season to taste then serve as a delicious accompaniment to any braai.
