Wiring a Plug

Ryan Matchett is one of a large group of crafters, producers and small business owners, that have been referred to Expresso by the Cape Craft & Design Institute, who do a great job providing product, business and market support to the craft sector.

Materials

  • A Plug
  • 3m of rip cord
  • An in line switch
  • A bayonet lamp holder
  • A small energy saving bulb

 

Instructions:

  • Strip the two wires at each end of the rip cord using the scissors.
  • Twist the 2 wires on one end and demonstrate how to wire the plug using the butter knife.
  • Decide how far the switch must be from the wall socket and cut one of the wires in the rip cord.
  • Demonstrate how to wire the switch.
  • With the remaining stripped wires on the other end of the cord, demonstrate how to wire the lamp holder.
  • Insert light bulb and check the system (switch on).
