How To Make Milk Tart Spring Rolls

  1. Milk tart filling: In a saucepan combine half the milk, margarine and vanilla essence.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. In a bowl whisk the egg, add the flour, cornflour, remaining milk, sugar and salt until combined.
  4. Slowly temper the hot milk into the egg mixture.
  5. Add the mixture back into the saucepan and whisk until the mixture thickens.
  6. Once thickened, pour the mixture into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap directly touching the mixture and cool completely.
  7. To make the spring rolls add about 2-3 tablespoons of the milk tart filling in the center of the pastry and roll up to close off the filling.
  8. Seal the edges with some water.
  9. Brush the spring rolls with some oil to give them a crispier texture.
  10. Place in the air fryer on 180°C and cook for 4-6 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
