Orange Citrus and Sea Salt Candied Bacon

Savor a gourmet twist on breakfast with Orange Citrus and Sea Salt Candied Bacon, featuring a sweet and tangy glaze made from Krush Orange Juice!

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices streaky bacon
  • 1 cup Krush Orange 100% Fruit Juice Blend
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp orange zest
  • Sea salt, to taste

How To Make Orange Citrus and Sea Salt Candied Bacon

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Place a wire rack on top of the lined baking tray.
  3. In a small saucepan, combined Krush, brown sugar and maple syrup.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.
  5. Cook until the mixture reduces by half and thickens into a syrup consistency, about 10 – 15 minutes.
  6. Stir in the orange zest and set aside.
  7. Arrange the bacon slices in a single layer on the wire rack, making sure they don’t overlap.
  8. Brush the bacon with generous amount the orange reduction.
  9. Place the bacon in the oven and bake for 20 – 25 minutes, basting with more of the orange reduction halfway through the cooking process.
  10. Once the bacon is done, remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle over salt.
  11. Allow the bacon to cool slightly so the glaze can set.
  12. Serve immediately as a snack, breakfast side or an addition to a charcuterie board.
