Nothing beats the aroma of freshly baked bread with apple and cinnamon.
Serves: 6-8 Time: 45-50 minutes
Ingredients:
2 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp cinnamon ½ tsp all spice Pinch of salt 1 cup apple sauce/puree ¼ cup chopped dates ½ cup brown sugar ¼ cup Clover Classic spread, melted 2 large eggs 3 tbsp milk ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
For the topping ½ cup brown sugar mixed with 1 tbsp cinnamon 1 tbsp Clover Classic spread
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180C In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, all spice and pinch of salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the apple sauce, chopped dates, brown sugar, Classic spread, eggs and milk until well combined. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry, along with the nuts. Pour into a greased and lined tin. Mix together the ingredients for the topping and sprinkle over the top. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean. Allow to cool before slicing and serve.
Chefs Tip: Serve however you’d like, we suggest a drizzle of maple syrup!
