10-Minute Pan-Seared Gnocchi

A hug in every bite, ready in minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 500g high-quality store-bought potato gnocchi
  •  3 tbsp salted butter
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 12-15 fresh sage leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 lemon (for zest and juice)
  • Grana Padano or Parmesan shavings to serve
  • Salt and cracked black pepper
  • to serve lemon zest and Parmesan shavings

How To Make Gnocchi

  1. In a large non-stick pan, heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the gnocchi directly to the pan (do not boil them first) and fry for 5–7 minutes, tossing occasionally until they are golden and crispy on the outside.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter.
  4. Once the butter begins to foam and turn nut-brown, toss in the sage leaves and garlic.
  5. Fry until the sage is crisp and the garlic is fragrant, being careful not to burn the butter.
  6. Add the toasted walnuts and a squeeze of lemon juice, then season with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve immediately in warm bowls, topped with fresh lemon zest and plenty of Parmesan shavings.
