Beef Stew with Samp and Hot Chakalaka

Impress family and friends with that ACE taste!

Ingredients:

  • Samp
  • 2 cups ACE Quick Cook Samp
  • 2 cups water
  • salt to taste
  • Beef Stew
  • 3 Tbsp oil
  • 1.5 kg beef chunks
  • 1-2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 6 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks
  • one big handful of parsley, chopped
  • 1 sachet of Benny’s Beef Stock
  • 2 cups of boiling water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • To serve
  • 1 x can KOO Hot and Spicy Chakalaka With
  • Beans, warmed
  • parsley, chopped
  • 8 x Wide neck jars

How To Make

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot and brown the beef in batches. Remove and season to taste.
  2. In the same pot fry the onions until golden brown.
  3. Add more oil if you see it is too dry. Stir the garlic in.
  4. Return the meat to the pot and add the carrots. Stir the beef stock and water in.
  5. The water must just cover the meat. If you need a bit more add a bit more.
  6. Bring to a simmer, then cover and reduce the heat.
  7. Cook for 2 hours or until tender – stirring occasionally. Taste and season again.
  8. To serve scoop some samp in the jar, then some beef stew and finish with a spoon of chakalaka.
  9. Add another layer and a sprinkling of parsley. Serve immediately.
