Ingredients:
- Lasagna sheets, cooked
- 1 1/2 cups Clover White Cheddar Natural Cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Clover Gouda Natural cheese, shredded
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 500g minced meat
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce or passata
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Flour for coating
- 3 eggs, beaten
- Seasoned breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
How To Make Cheesy Fried Lasagne Nuggets
- Prepare the Ragu: In a pan, heat some oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Add the minced meat to the pan, breaking it up as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Once the meat is browned, stir in the tomato sauce or passata. Allow the mixture to simmer until it thickens and becomes rich in flavour. Set aside to cool.
- Cheese Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the shredded Clover White Cheddar, gouda, and ricotta cheese. Mix well and set aside.
- Assemble the Nuggets: Lay out the cooked lasagna sheets on a clean surface. Spoon a small amount of the cheese mixture onto each sheet, followed by a spoonful of the ragu.
- Roll up the lasagna sheets around the filling and cut each roll into bite-sized pieces.
- Coating: Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Dip each lasagna nugget first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the breadcrumbs, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
- Frying: Heat oil in a deep pan to 175ºC. Fry the lasagna nuggets in batches, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Remove the nuggets from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Serve the Fried Lasagna Nuggets hot, with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
