Cheesy Fried Lasagne Nuggets

If you love lasagne, you’ll fall head over heels for these cheesy fried nuggets!

Ingredients:

  • Lasagna sheets, cooked
  • 1 1/2 cups Clover White Cheddar Natural Cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Clover Gouda Natural cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 500g minced meat
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or passata
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Flour for coating
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • Seasoned breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

How To Make Cheesy Fried Lasagne Nuggets

  1. Prepare the Ragu: In a pan, heat some oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Add the minced meat to the pan, breaking it up as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Once the meat is browned, stir in the tomato sauce or passata. Allow the mixture to simmer until it thickens and becomes rich in flavour. Set aside to cool.
  4. Cheese Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the shredded Clover White Cheddar, gouda, and ricotta cheese. Mix well and set aside.
  5. Assemble the Nuggets: Lay out the cooked lasagna sheets on a clean surface. Spoon a small amount of the cheese mixture onto each sheet, followed by a spoonful of the ragu.
  6. Roll up the lasagna sheets around the filling and cut each roll into bite-sized pieces.
  7. Coating: Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with seasoned breadcrumbs.
  8. Dip each lasagna nugget first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the breadcrumbs, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  9. Frying: Heat oil in a deep pan to 175ºC. Fry the lasagna nuggets in batches, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  10. Remove the nuggets from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  11. Serve: Serve the Fried Lasagna Nuggets hot, with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
