Cheesy Pap Ball Christmas Tree

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 t Benny chicken stock powder
  • 1 cup ACE Quick Cook Maize Meal
  • 2 t finely chopped parsley
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 200 g mozzarella, cut into small blocks
  • oil for deep frying
  • extra chopped parsley for serving
  • KOO Mild & Spicy Chakalaka

How To Make

  1. Bring water, milk and stock powder to a boil.
  2. Slowly whisk in the ACE Quick Cook Maize Meal. Turn heat to low, continue whisking for 5 minutes or until pap is smooth and creamy. Add chopped parsley and stir well.
  3. Cook for another 5 minutes or until the right consistency is reached
    Transfer into a bowl and allow to cool.
  4. When completely cool, take a handful of pap, flatten it in the palm of your hand, place a block of mozzarella cheese in the centre and form the pap around the cheese to the size of a golf ball.
  5. Dip balls into beaten egg and then into bread crumbs. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  6. On a platter pack the balls in a Christmas tree. Sprinkle with more parsley.
  7. Serve immediately with warm KOO Mild & Spicy Chakalaka.
