Creamy Redu

Popularly known as Dahi Tadka, a Redu is a comforting dish made with spices and aromatics, mixed with a creamy base and served with rice.

Serves: 3-4
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • Few curry leaves
  • 3 dried chilles
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups Clover Nolac dairy snack, plain flavour
  • 1/2 cup Clover Nolac milk
  • ½ cup water
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
  • Cooked Basmati rice for serving

How To Make Lactose Free Redu

  1. In a large pan, heat the oil then add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, garlic, curry leaves and dried chillies.
  2. Toast until fragrant, then add the red onion and sauté for a few minutes before adding the turmeric, chilli power and chopped chilli.
    Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix together the Nolac dairy snack with the Nolac milk and water and pour over the onion mixture.
  4. Cook for a few minutes then ladle over basmati rice and garnish with fresh coriander.
