Winter traditions that warm the heart, made even creamier!

Serves: 2
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oats or maize meal (your choice based on preference)
  • 2 cups strong Freshpak Rooibos tea (brewed with 2 teabags)
  • ½ cup milk (optional, for added creaminess)
  • 3 tbsp Ellis Brown creamer
  • 1–2 tbsp honey or brown sugar (to taste)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: sliced banana, raisins, chopped nuts, or a drizzle of condensed milk

How To Make Creamy Rooibos & Porridge

  1. Start by brewing two Freshpak Rooibos teabags in two cups of boiling water and allow them to steep for at least five minutes to extract a strong, rich flavour.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine your oats or maize meal with the freshly brewed
Rooibos tea and a pinch of salt.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer, stirring regularly, until the porridge thickens to a creamy consistency — this should take about 7 to 10 minutes.
  4. Once thickened, stir in the milk (if using), Ellis Brown creamer, cinnamon, and your preferred sweetener such as honey or brown sugar.
  5. Mix well until everything is smooth and heated through.
  6. Serve warm, topped with your favourite additions like sliced banana, chopped
nuts, raisins, or a drizzle of condensed milk for extra indulgence.
