Flavour-packed meals in minutes
Meals that can be made in 10 minutes and eaten over a week!
Ingredients:
- 500g lean ground beef (mince)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- ½ red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 small carrot, grated
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce (optional but adds depth)
- 1 tsp rice vinegar or lime juice
- 1 tsp honey or brown sugar
- Pinch of chili flakes or 1 tsp sriracha
To serve:
- 1 head butter lettuce or baby gem lettuce,
- leaves separated and washed
- Spring onions, sliced
- Fresh coriander or mint leaves
- Crushed peanuts or cashews
- Lime wedges
How To Make Beef Lettuce Wraps
- Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
- Add onion, garlic, and ginger.
- Sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Stir in red pepper, carrot, and cook another 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Add soy sauce, hoisin, oyster sauce, vinegar, and honey.
- Stir well to coat the mixture and let it simmer for 1–2 more minutes until slightly thickened.
- Taste and adjust seasoning – add chili flakes or sriracha if using.
- Spoon the warm beef filling into lettuce leaves.
- Top with spring onions, crushed nuts, herbs, and a squeeze of lime juice.
- Serve with extra hoisin or chili sauce on the side for dipping.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cooked rice (preferably cold, day-old rice)
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 spring onions, sliced
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- ½ cup frozen peas and carrots
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt & pepper, to taste
How To Make Egg Fried Rice
- Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Beat the eggs, pour them into the pan, and scramble.
- Once cooked, remove the eggs and set them aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining oil.
- Add garlic (if using), the white part of the spring onions, and the mixed vegetables.
- Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, or until the veggies are tender and lightly browned.
- Crumble the rice into the pan and stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes, breaking up any clumps and mixing it with the veggies.
- Return the scrambled eggs to the pan.
- Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and season with salt and pepper.
- Stir well to combine.
- Add the green parts of the spring onions, give everything one last toss, and serve hot.
Ingredients:
- 250g beef steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Pinch of white pepper
- 150g egg noodles
- 1 Tbsp oil
- 1 carrot, julienned
- ½ red pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 2 spring onions, sliced (whites and greens separated)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
For the Sauce:
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp water
- ½ tsp sugar
How To Make Beef Chow Mein
- In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and white pepper.
- Let it marinate while you prep the other ingredients.
- Boil the noodles according to package instructions until just tender.
- Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking.
- Toss with a tiny bit of oil to prevent sticking.
- In a small bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients together and set aside.
- Heat a wok or large pan over high heat.
- Add 1 Tbsp oil.
- Sear the beef in a single layer (in batches if needed) for 1–2 minutes per side until browned and nearly cooked through.
- Remove from pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, and white parts of the spring onions.
- Stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Add carrot, pepper, and cabbage.
- Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
- Add cooked noodles and beef back to the wok.
- Pour over the sauce and toss everything together on high heat until evenly coated, hot, and slightly caramelized (about 2–3 minutes).
- Add green parts of the spring onion at the end for freshness.
