French Onion Tart Recipe

This french onion tart perfect for a starter or light meal with a green salad.

  • 3 shallots, sliced into rounds
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup balsamic reduction
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 1 cup grated Clover Tussers cheese
  • 200g pastry sheet
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten

How To Make French Onion Tart 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C
  2. Cut the puff pastry in to 5x7cm rectangle, set aside.
  3. On a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, drizzle olive directly on the parchment paper covering a surface that’s a similar size to the puff pastry rectangle.
  4. Top with balsamic reduction, a bit of thyme, salt, pepper and cheese.
  5. Then cover with a puff pastry rectangle, pressing down the sides to tuck the filling.
  6. Repeat the process till the sheet pan is full.
  7. Brush the tops with egg wash and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Flip them over, sprinkle over any remaining cheese and serve.
