Golden Cloud Chocolate Orange Tiramisu Trifle

A secret hint of orange and chocolate just becomes a beautiful, delicious combination.

500g Golden Cloud Vanilla Cake Mix
150ml sunflower oil
250ml water
2 large eggs
3 medium oranges, 1 zested, peeled and sliced horizontally
80g Beacon Heavenly midnight velvet, melted
500g mascarpone
500g custard
100ml strong coffee, cooled
200ml whipping cream
1 tbsp cocoa powder

Trifle bowl


Preheat the oven to 180C and prepare a two 20cm round cake tins.
Place the Golden Cloud Vanilla cake mix into a large bowl.
In a jug, whisk together the oil, water and eggs. Make a well in the centre of the cake mix and add the wet ingredients. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and lump free.
Divide the mixture into the two tins
Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely

Whip the mascarpone to soften and separate into two bowls. In one bowl add the chocolate and 2 tablespoons of coffee. In the other bowl, add the custard and orange zest.
Line the bottom and sides of the trifle dish with the orange slice and top with the custard orange mixture and spread evenly.
Break the cake into chunky pieces and brush the cake with the coffee.
Spoon over the chocolate mascarpone mixture and spread evenly, repeat the process.
Chill for 1 hour
Whip the cream to soft peaks then spoon over the trifles and spoon over the centre of the trifle
Dust with cocoa powder and serve.
