
Grilled BBQ Chicken
Packed with smoky, tangy flavour and comes together with minimal fuss!
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 40 – 50 minutes
Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
- 8 bone-in, skin-on chicken pieces (thighs or drumsticks)
For the Marinade:
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp liquid smoke, optional
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, optional
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
How To Make Grilled BBQ Chicken
- Whisk all ingredients except the BBQ sauce until smooth.
- Stir in the BBQ sauce at the end.
- Place chicken in a large resealable bag or container and coat with marinade.
- Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Remove chicken from marinade and let excess drip off.
- Sear chicken over direct heat for 3–4 minutes per side to get a good char.
- Move to indirect heat, cover the grill, and cook for 20–25 minutes, turning occasionally.
- In the last 8–10 minutes, baste with fresh BBQ sauce and flip occasionally, allowing sauce to glaze without burning.
