How To Make Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs with Steamed Jasmine

  1. In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic, sesame oil (if using), and chili flakes.
  2. In a separate small bowl, stir together cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
  3. Set both aside.
  4. Pat chicken thighs dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  5. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Add the chicken thighs and sear 4–5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.
  7. Remove chicken and set aside on a plate.
  8. In the same pan, lower the heat slightly and pour in the honey garlic sauce mixture.
  9. Bring to a gentle simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry.
  10. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze.
  11. Return the chicken to the pan, tossing to coat well in the sticky sauce.
  12. Simmer for another 2 minutes, basting the chicken with the glaze.
  13. Scoop steamed jasmine rice into bowls or plates.
  14. Top with honey garlic chicken thighs and a generous drizzle of the sauce.
  15. Garnish with sesame seeds, spring onions, and a squeeze of lime.
