Shakshuka

A one-pan dish packed with bold flavours, Shakshuka is a classic that never fails to impress!

 

Ingredients:

  • 6 Nulaid eggs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp ground coriander
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 can (400g) chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Crusty bread, for serving

How To Make Shakshuka

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and bell pepper, cooking until soft.
  3. Stir in garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, and chili flakes, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  5. Make small wells in the sauce and crack Nulaid eggs into each.
  6. Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes, until the egg whites are set but the yolks remain runny.
  7. Sprinkle with crumbled feta and fresh parsley.
  8. Serve warm with crusty bread for dipping.
