Tastic Dirty Rice

Travel to the Southern USA with Tastic Rices of the World!

2 cups chicken stock
1 bay leaf
1½ cup Tastic Bonnet rice
1 tablespoon canola oil
300g beef mince
1 onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
½ each robot peppers, chopped
¼ teaspoon dried thyme
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning (blend of paprika, oregano, thyme, chili pepper, garlic, salt and pepper)


Add the rice to a pot with 1 cup water, bay leaf and 1&1/2 cup stock, cover and cook till rise is tender and cooked.
In a separate large pan, heat the oil and fry the mince to brown.
Add the onion, celery, peppers and garlic and cook till vegetables are softened.
Add the salt, Cajun seasoning and thyme.
Add the rest of the chicken stock and simmer a minute, stirring well
Remove the bay leaf from the rice and add the rice in the mince mixture. Stir well.
Remove from the heat and serve very hot

Chefs Tip:You can enjoy dirty rice and freeze it too! Simply wait until it is completely cooled after cooking, then place it in a freezable container or bag for up to 2 months
