How To Make Umleqwa
- Heat canola oil in a heavy-based saucepan or pot over a medium heat and add diced onion. Saute until onions have softened and slightly browned.
- Add garlic powder, curry powder and mixed herbs, stirring frequently to avoid spices sticking to the pan.
- Add the portioned Umleqwa, with all the broth in the package, to the pot and stir through.
- Lower the heat and cover the pot for 5 minutes.
- Add 250ml chicken stock and stir through. Add black pepper, cover pot and cook for 20 minutes or until Umleqwa is tender.
- If gravy is still runny, increase heat and reduce until gravy is slightly thicker.
- Serve with steamed bread, samp& beans or pap.
