How To Make Vrikkadel Sliders
- Start by making the vrikkadels.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mince, grated onion, soaked bread, egg, spices, herbs, salt, pepper, and Mrs Balls chutney.
- Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- If the mixture feels too soft to shape, chill it in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs or slider-sized patties, flatten slightly, and dust with a bit of flour.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the vrikkadels until golden and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes per side.
- Set aside on a paper towel to drain.
- To make the glaze, combine the chutney, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar or honey, vinegar, and mustard in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir well and simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Toss the cooked vrikkadels in the warm glaze or brush it over them generously for extra shine and flavour.
- To assemble the sliders, toast the buns in a pan with butter or mayo until golden and crisp.
- Add a lettuce leaf, followed by a slice of tomato.
- Place a chutney-glazed vrikkadel on top, then add cheese and pickled onions if using.
- Close the slider with the top bun and secure with a toothpick if needed.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
