Woolworths Cuban’ish Croque Madame

You can make a mouth watering homemade Cuban’ish Croque Madame for breakfast or lunch and enjoy it in the comfort of your home.

Ingredients:

4 slices Woolies sourdough bread, buttered
2T dijon mustard
6 sliced Woolies Beech Smoked Sliced Gammon (3 per sandwich)
6 slices sweet and sour sliced gherkins (3 per sandwich)
4 slices Woolies Emmental slices (2 per sandwich)
200ml Woolies Simply heat cheese and roasted jalapeño sauce
2 crispy fried eggs, seasoned with salt and pepper

Method:

Preheat your oven to 180C. To build 2 sandwiches, place 2 slices of bread butter side down on a chopping board, Add some of the sliced gammon to each slice followed by some sliced gherkins then 2 slices of sliced Emmental cheese to each sandwich.

Top with the remaining slices of sourdough bread, butter side up then place in a pan that’s been preheated over a medium heat.
Cover the sandwiches with a sheet of baking paper before placing a second pan on top of the paper to press the sandwiches down creating a more golden and crispy crust.

After about 2 minutes or when a golden crust has formed turn the sandwiches over and cover with the sheet of baking paper, pressing down again with the pan. Remove the pan and bring paper once both sides are golden and crisp then pour over the cheese sauce before placing the pan in the oven, letting the cheese sauce begin to bubble and slightly brown.
