Zanele Potelwa leads the Joburg studio for Expresso Morning Show.

At 30, Zanele Potelwa is one of the youngest award-winning broadcasters in South Africa. The first thing anyone will tell you about Zanele is that you will see and hear her everywhere – TV, radio, social media, hosting events and even in the shops on various posters. She is a multi-faceted personality whose energy brings life to not only the airwaves and screens but to events too.

In 2023, she was named as part of the Mail & Guardian TOP 200 in the entertainment category.

Zanele is an SA Radio Award winner and is currently the new Drive time host at 5FM, the leading youth station in Mzansi, which she does with Nick Archibald, Jude Van Wyk, Yanga Mjoli, ShabZi Madallion and Masego Chresh. They entertain, educate and make South Africans laugh, nationally, 3-6PM Monday-Friday.

She is a TV Presenter on SABC 3’s Expresso, the morning show that wakes up South Africans all over the country, as well as; a presenter on SABC 1’s iconic show – the longest running magazine show in SA – Selimathunzi. Most recently, Zanele was named the brand-new presenter on Tropika Island of treasure for season 11 in Zanzibar.

In 2023, she was also a host of the returning MetroFM Music Awards Black Carpet. She was also an official host of the SAMA’s 2022 red carpet and the host of the Inaugural SA Amapiano Awards Red Carpet.

Zanele has hosted events such as the GenNext Awards and the Hollywood Bets Super League Awards broadcast LIVE on SABC 1. She describes herself as one of the lucky MCs that is trusted by brands such as Disney, Matel (For the official Barbie Movie SA Premiere), Steve Madden X Bonang Matheba, Spar and Sorbet to bring life to their events. Her MC-ing at netball games for Netball South Africa over the last couple of years led to working with SABC Sport and she continues to MC for them, just as she did at the Netball World Cup as an official MC.

Zanele is one of the freshest faces to mainstream media and she is all things media related. She is a full of life, inspired, multi-faceted young woman from the Eastern Cape and there is nothing she loves more than people. Her passion and absolute respect for the art of speaking – in every shape and form – stems from the love that she has for communicating with, being with, and wanting to know more about people from all different walks of life.
