Baked Maple Bacon Doughnuts

Doughnuts for breakfast? Never say never!

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup oil
  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup maple flavoured syrup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • Pinch of salt
  • Glaze:
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 250g streaky bacon, cooked crispy

How To Make Baked Maple Bacon Doughtnuts

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C and prepare a doughnut pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the oil, eggs, vanillas, syrup and milk.
  3. Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter evenly in the doughnut pan, filing 2/3 of the way.
  5. Bake for 12-13 minutes or until skewer inserted comes out clean.
  6. Make the glaze by combining all the ingredients.
  7. Drizzle the glaze over the doughnuts. Allow to set then top with crispy bacon.
