Biltong Potjie

Traditional flavours in one magical feast with Clover Way Better!

Serves: 4


  • 500-700g Beef Chunks
  • 2 Punnet Mushrooms, cut into quarters
  • 500ml Beef Stock
  • ½ Cup Shaved Biltong Pieces
  • 1 Onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 50g packet Brown Onion Soup
  • 250ml Clover Fresh Cream
  • 1 tsp Coriander seed, crushed
  • Biltong Powder, for serving (optional)
  • Clover Olive Pride Blended Oil
  • Handful Parsley, chopped
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

How To Make

  1. Add some Olive Pride oil to a sauce pot or potjie pot and bring to a medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, the add the beef chunks and brown off.
  3. Once the meat has turned a golden colour add the mushrooms, garlic, coriander seeds and thyme.
  4. Add the beef stock and cover with the lid, allow to cook for 1 hour.
  5. Add the brown onion soup with the cream in a jug and whisk until smooth.
  6. Pour the cream into the pot and allow it to thicken the sauce.
  7. Add the biltong slices and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Serve the potjie with freshly baked or steamed bread and a sprinkling of parsley and biltong powder.
