Blissful Brûlée French Toast Custard Hearts

  • 2 Thick cut slices of bread
  • 3 Large eggs
  • ½ tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • Dash of cream (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp Castor sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Clover Bliss Double Cream Custard
  • Mascarpone cheese, to serve
  • Berry compote, to serve

How To Make Brulee French Toast 

  1. Prepare the egg mixture by adding the cracked eggs to a mixing bowl, whisk in the vanilla essence, dash of cream and pinch of salt.
  2. Soak each slice of bread in the egg mixture on both sides.
  3. Bring a non-stick pan to a medium-high heat, add the butter and place the slices into the pan.
  4. Cook them until golden brown on each side and the egg mixture has cooked through.
  5. Place each slice on a serving plate and using a small heart shaped cookie cutter, cut a heart out from the slice of bread.
  6. Save the small heart from the inside to serve with your French toast.
  7. Fill the heart with some Bliss Double Cream Custard until it is level with the bread.
  8. Sprinkle the slices with the castor sugar and then using a blow torch, caramelize the sugar until golden brown.
  9. Scoop a serving of mascarpone and berry compote onto each slice before serving.
