Boerewors Bread "Taco"

We all love a good taco, but we’re giving it a proudly South African twist!

 

Ingredients:

  • 8x slices SASKO – Bettererest Premium White bread
  • 1 coil boerewors, casing removed
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 2 heads cos lettuce, shredded
  • 250ml sour cream
  • For the tomato salsa:
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • 2 avocados, diced
  • 20g fresh coriander, chopped
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How To Make Boerewors Bread “Taco”

  1. Mix together all the ingredients and season to taste
  2. Use a rolling pin to roll out each slice of bread thinly, then cut into a round. 
  3. Press a thin layer of the boerewors into the bread rounds.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan, then add the bread rounds, boerewors side down, and fry over
    medium heat until the meat is cooked through.
  5. Flip over in the pan, then add a dollop of sour cream, top with lettuce and salsa.
  6. Fold in half and serve immediately.
