
Cape Malay Lamb Curry
Spice up your weekend with this delicious Cape Malay lamb curry!

Cooking time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp canola oil
- 3 onions, peeled and chopped
- 3 bay leaves or curry leaves
- 3 cardamom pods
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- Thumbsize fresh ginger, grated
- 1 kg lamb pieces
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 2 Tbsp roasted masala
- 1 Tbsp leaf masala
- 1 Tbsp curry powder of your choice
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 6 potatoes, peeled and cubed
- Salt & pepper, to taste
To serve:
- Basmati rice or roti’s
- Fresh coriander
How To Make Cape Malay Lamb Curry
- Heat oil in a large pot then add in onions and cook until the onions are translucent, then add in garlic, ginger and whole spices and cook on a medium heat until fragrant. Add in the lamb pieces along with the rest of the spices, allow this to cook for about 5 minutes, then add in 2 cups of water, stir and allow it to cook for about 30 – 40 minutes over a medium heat, then season to taste with salt & pepper, now add in your potatoes and cook until the potatoes are tender, season to taste with salt & pepper. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with basmati rice or roti. Enjoy!
