For the Cinnamon Knots:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp flour, for dusting
  • 1 egg, beaten

For the Coffee Glaze:

  • 1 sachet Jacobs 3-in-1 Instant Coffee
  • ½ cup icing sugar
  • 1 – 2 Tbsp milk

To serve:

  • Icing sugar or cinnamon sugar, for dusting

How To Make Cinnamon Knots with Coffee Glaze

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle.
  3. Brush the entire surface with the melted butter.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the buttered pastry.
  5. Fold the pastry in half lengthwise to seal in the filling.
  6. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice into wide strips.
  7. Take each strip and twist it a few times, then tie it into a loose knot.
  8. If it breaks, just tuck the ends under — it’ll puff up in the oven.
  9. Place knots on the lined tray, spacing them out.
  10. Brush with bean egg and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed up and golden brown.
  11. In a small bowl, whisk the Jacobs 3-in-1 sachet with 1 Tablespoon milk until dissolved.
  12. Add the icing sugar and whisk until smooth.
  13. If too thick, add more milk 1 teaspoon at a time until it’s pourable but not runny.
  14. Once the knots have cooled for about 5 minutes, drizzle with the coffee glaze.
