Citro-Soda Fried Halloumi Bites with Cranberry Chipotle Sauce
Before you tuck into festive treats on the table, these fried halloumi bites with cranberry chipotle sauce that will make your taste buds scream!
Time: 15 minutes
200g haLloumi cheese, cut into bite size pieces
¼ cup flour (seasoned with salt, pepper and dried oregano)
1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs, seasoned
1 egg, beaten
½ cup cranberry sauce/jelly
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 tbsp chipotle chilli flakes/spice
2 tbsp honey
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil for frying
Coat the halloumi in flour then egg and then panko crumbs. Heat the oil for frying and fry until golden in colour.
Make the cranberry chipotle sauce heating a glug of oil in a saucepan and add in the cranberry jelly/sauce.
Add in the garlic, chipotle and honey and cook for a few minutes. Add water if too thick. Season with salt and pepper.
Place the halloumi bites onto a serving board and top with a dollop of cranberry chipotle sauce.
Chefs Tip: You can make the sauce a few days ahead of time and store it in a sterilized jar. The longer its stands, the more intense the flavour.
