Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets puffed pastry
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup chocolate spread
  • Icing sugar, to dust for serving

How To Make Pull-Apart Chocolate Tree

  1. Preheat an oven to 200°C (400f), and let your puff pastry thaw for about 2 hours (before preheating the oven) or until it’s easy to work with.
  2. Unfold two sheets of puff pastry and place one of them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  3. Spread the Nutella or spread of your choice evenly with a spatula or with a butter knife.
  4. Lay the other puff pastry on top of the Nutella. Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the outline of a Christmas tree.
  5. Use a star cookie cutter to cut off 2-3 stars from the scraps. Set the starts aside.
  6. Cut 1-inch strips on the sides of the Christmas tree. Twist each strip away from you to create a beautiful design.
  7. Place a star on the top of the tree for a finished Christmas tree.
  8. Mix 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of milk or heavy cream and brush the tree with the egg wash.
  9. Bake in a 200c (400f) preheated oven for 20-30 minutes or until it’s golden brown. Take a look at the tree after 20 minutes to make sure it doesn’t burn.
