DIY Taco Shells Using Tortillas
Forget store-bought—making your own taco shells at home is quick, budget-friendly, and way more delicious!
Ingredients:
- Soft corn or flour tortillas (6-inch size works best)
- Neutral oil (like canola or vegetable oil)
- Tongs and a wire rack or oven-safe rack
- Baking tray or a frying pan
How To Make Taco Shells
Method 1:
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Lightly brush or spray tortillas with oil on both sides.
- Drape each tortilla over two bars of the oven rack to form a shell shape.
- Bake for 7–10 minutes until crisp and golden.
- Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Carefully remove and let cool slightly—they’ll crisp up more as they cool.
Method 2:
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Using tongs, fold a tortilla in half and place one half in the oil.
- Fry one side for 30–45 seconds, then flip to fry the other side—keeping the folded shape.
- Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt if desired.
