English Breakfast with Slap Pap
Add that ACE taste to your favourite breakfast!
Ingredients:
- 300 g ACE Quick Cook Maize Meal (approximately 2 cups)
- 1.1 L water (approximately 4 ½ cups)
- big knob of butter
- salt to taste
- 150 g baby button mushrooms
- 3 T butter
- 4 eggs, fried
- 8-10 rashes bacon, crispy fried
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tin KOO baked beans, warmed up
- Sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley to serve
How To Make
- For the slap pap: Bring water to boil.
- Add salt and the ACE Quick Cook Maize Meal.
- Mix with fork to avoid lumps. Once blended mix with a strong spoon.
- Turn heat down to medium and cook with lid on for 10 minutes until desired texture is reached, stirring occasionally.
- Add butter, stir through and serve.
- Mushrooms: Melt the butter in a pan. Add baby mushrooms and fry until soft. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble: Spoon the slappap into serving bowls and top with fried egg, bacon, mushrooms and baked beans.
- Sprinkle with parsley and enjoy!
Chefs Tip: The pockets can be frozen at this point. Place your pockets in the fridge to chill while preheating your oven to 180°C.
Place your pockets on a baking tray lines with baking paper or coated with nonstick kitchen spray, then bake for 20 -25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. Allow the pockets to cool slightly before serving it with WOOLWORTHS’ vanilla bean ice cream.
