Gourmet Boerie Roll

Win over your guests at the next game day braai with these gourmet boerie rolls from Clover!

Time: 40 minutes


  • 6 Hotdog rolls
  • 6tbsp Clover Classic Fat Spread
  • 1kg Boerewors
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 400g Clover Gouda Cheese, grated
    To serve:
  • Fresh tomato salsa
  • Fresh coriander
  • Clover medium tangy mayonnaise

How To Make:

  1. Grill the boerewors on braai or in a pan. Set aside
  2. Heat a pan and drizzle some olive oil.
  3. Add the onions, sugar and balsamic vinegar and cook on a low to medium heat until caramelized and soft, approximately 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally
  4. Slice the hotdog rolls lengthways, spread the Classic spread and toast in a pan until golden.
  5. Assemble the boerewors rolls; place a piece of boerewors in the toasted roll, top with a generous amount of onions, sprinkle over some cheese and place on baking sheet.
  6. Repeat till all the rolls are filled
  7. Place the baking tray in the oven for 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Top each roll with fresh salsa, a few coriander leaves and dollops of mayo.
