Add the drained apples to a blender or food processor with the water and blend until smooth.
If you prefer a chunkier apple sauce, mash the apples with a fork or potato masher instead.
Transfer the blended or mashed apples to a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir in the lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon.
Simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken.
Remove from the heat and allow it to cool completely.
Chefs Tip: For a more intense flavour, use apple juice instead of water. Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for later use.
