Melt-in-your-mouth Marvellous Malva

This malva is a must-try – even for beginners!

  • For the malva pudding:
  • 2 cups (250g) cake flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup (75g) butter, softened
  • 1 cup (195g) dark brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tbsp apricot jam
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tin (380ml) NESTLÉ Ideal Milk
  • For the sauce:
  • 1 tin (380ml) NESTLÉ Ideal Milk
  • 1 cup (195g) dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup (113g) butter
  • 1 tbsp apricot jam

How To Make 

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a 20cm square baking dish.
2. Sieve the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, and salt in a mixing bowl and set aside until needed.
3. In a separate bowl, add the softened butter and sugar and whisk until light and airy. Add the eggs, apricot jam, and vinegar and whisk until well combined.
4. Add the dry ingredients and the NESTLÉ Ideal Milk to the wet ingredients and gently fold until combined.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes until a skewer is inserted and comes out clean.
For the sauce:
6. Prepare the sauce 10 minutes before the malva pudding is done by adding the NESTLÉ Ideal Milk, ½ cup of water, dark brown sugar, butter and apricot jam to a saucepan. Simmer the sauce on medium heat for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
7. Pour the sauce over the malva pudding immediately, while hot, and allow the pudding to absorb the sauce.
8. Serve the malva pudding warm with custard and ENJOY!
