Molten Salted Caramel Brownies

The epitome of indulgence!

Ingredients:

  • 250g crème caramels
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 170g butter
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips
  • To serve:
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel syrup

How To Make Molten Salted Caramel Brownies

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C and prepare two square baking tins with parchment paper.
  2. Place the crème caramels in saucepan and melt on a medium-low heat.
  3. Once melted, sprinkle the sea salt and stir to combine.
  4. Pour the caramel into one of the prepare baking tins and place in the freezer to freeze.
  5. In the meantime, make the brownie batter.
  6. Combine the butter and the chocolate in the microwave safe bowl.
  7. Melt in 30 second intervals until smooth.
  8. Add the sugar, eggs and vanilla and whisk until smooth.
  9. Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt and chocolate chips and fold in until thoroughly combined.
  10. Spread half the batter into the baking tin.
  11. Once the caramel block is completely set, remove from the baking tin and place the block on the brownie batter.
  12. Cover the caramel block with the remaining brownie batter and spread to even out.
  13. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes
  14. Remove from the oven and cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.
