Onion Boil

One of the latest trending recipes to hit the social media streets.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large, onion
  • 2–4 tbsp butter
  • 1–2 tsp Old Bay seasoning (or Cajun seasoning)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 ½ tsp crushed garlic
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 ½ tsp lemon pepper
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • Splash of lemon juice

How To Make Onion Boil 

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Preheat to 200°C.
  2. Prep the Onion
    • Peel the onion.
    • Slice off the top and bottom so it sits flat.
    • Cut a deep X into the top, stopping before the base.
  3. Season
    • Stuff butter into the cuts and on top.
    • Sprinkle generously with Cajun seasoning.
    • Add garlic and any extra spices.
  4. Wrap in Foil
    • Place onion in the centre of a large piece of aluminium foil.
    • Wrap tightly, sealing completely so steam stays inside.
  5. Bake
    • Place foil-wrapped onion on a baking sheet.
    • Bake for 45–60 minutes, until the onion is very soft and caramelized.
  6. Serve
    • Carefully unwrap (hot steam).
    • Pull apart with a fork and enjoy!
