Taco Seasoned Mince Used 3 Ways
A savoury base you can turn into three totally different dinners.
Serves: 4–6
Preparation time: 12 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 500g mince
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp chili powder or flakes
- 2 Tbsp tomato paste
- ½ cup water or stock
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Juice of ½ lime
- Handful of chopped fresh coriander
To serve:
- taco shells or mini tortillas
- guacamole
- sour cream
- nacho chips
- tomatoes, chopped
- lettuce, shredded
- red onions, sliced
How To Make Taco Seasoned Mince Used 3 Ways
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the mince to the pan and break it up with a spoon.
- Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes.
- Sprinkle in cumin, paprika, oregano, coriander, chili, salt, and pepper.
- Stir well to coat the meat in spices.
- Stir in tomato paste and pour in water or stock.
- Mix well and simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened and rich.
- Finish with a squeeze of lime and chopped coriander.
- Serve either as a taco, in a wrap or make some homemade nachos
