Tessa's Bakery Chocolate Cake

Baking since 1987, Tessa decided it was time to share her love for cake with the people in 2012 and we are honoured to share this chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream recipe with you!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup all purpose flour
  • 1 Cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp coffee powder
  • ½ Cup milk
  • ¼ Cup veg oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • ½ Cup boiling water
    Vanilla buttercream:
  • 330g butter
  • 5 tsp salt
  • 495g Icing sugar
  • 45g Greek yoghurt
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla

How To Make:

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C. 
  2. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt and coffee powder.
  3. Whisk until combined.
  4. Mix milk, vegetable oil, egg and vanilla together.
  5. Add to dry ingredients.
  6. Add boiling water.
  7. Mix on slow speed.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes
  9. For the buttercream: Whip your butter until light and fluffy.
  10. Add your icing sugar to your butter, beat until fluffy.
  11. Add salt and Greek yoghurt, beat.
  12. Add vanilla essence.
  13. Whip until light and fluffy.
