Butter Candle
Use a good quality butter from Clover to perfect the latest butter trend with these how-to steps!
What You Need:
- 1 Cup Clover Mooi River Premium Butter
- Paper cup
- Wick (Food-safe i.e. made from organic hemp and food-grade beeswax)
- 2 Garlic cloves (minced)
- Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley, thyme, rosemary)
- 1 loaf of bread (e.g. Sourdough)
- Bread knife
- Cutting board
How To Make Butter Candle
- Finely chop the fresh herbs.
- Mince the garlic cloves.
- Melt butter, chopped herbs and minced garlic on a stovetop or microwave.
- Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Place the food-safe wick in the centre of the paper cup.
- Pour the compound butter mixture into the paper cup, ensuring the wick stays centred.
- Place the paper cup in the refrigerator and let it chill until the butter is completely solidified.
- Using the same size paper cup to hollow out a circle in the centre of the loaf.
- Slice vertically along the side to create easy pull-apart slices.
- Once the butter candle is solid, carefully remove it from the paper cup by cutting or tearing the cup.
- Place the butter candle in the hollowed-out centre of the bread loaf.
- Just before serving, light the wick of the butter candle.
- Allow the butter to melt slightly, creating a pool of delicious, flavoured butter in the bread’s centre.
- Serve the bread with the lit butter candle in the centre.
- Guests can tear off slices of bread and dip them into the melted butter for a delightful and interactive appetizer.
