Cheese Steak Sub

Perfect for game day, braai day or just a lazy weekend treat!

  • 2 large bread rolls, halved
  • 4 tbsp garlic butter
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 550g beef strips
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 red onions, sliced
  • ½ green pepper, sliced
  • ½ cup bbq sauce
  • 1 cup white cheddar, grated

How To Make Cheese Steak Sub

  1. Heat a large skillet. Spread the garlic butter on each the bread rolls.
  2. And place in the pan, buttered side down, to toast. Once golden brown, remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. To the same pan add the oil, followed by the beef strips, garlic powder, smoked paprika and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring as needed.
  4. Add the red onions and green pepper, continue to cook until the veg is slightly soft.
  5. Add the bbq sauce, cook for a further minute.
  6. Remove from the heat, fold in the cheese and stir until incorporated and melted.
  7. Stuff the bread buns with the cheese steak mixture.
  8. Serve with mayo or any preferred sauce.
