Clover Classic Kota Sandwich
One thing’s for sure about the classic food here in Mzanzi – its packs bags of flavor and that’s why we keep on making them – just like a Classic Kota.
Serves: 2
Time: 45 minutes
Recipe by: Thando Manyoni
Ingredients:
1 unsliced loaf of white bread
2 tbsp classic spread
4 medium sized potatoes, peeled and cut into chips
3 tbsp chips seasoning
2 burger patties
4 streaks of bacon
2 eggs
4 tbsp mild mango atchar
2 slices of cheese
Tomato sauce
Hot sauce
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare a baking sheet
Cut the load in half, then cut the half into quarters and cut the centre of the loafs out. In a bowl, toss the chips with the seasoning and oil. Transfer the chips onto the baking sheet and add the burger patties and bacon to the baking sheet as well. Cook in the oven for 20-30 minutes, until the chips, burger patties and bacon are cooked through. The chips may take longer, so remove the patties and bacon if they are ready. In the meantime, heat a non-stick pan and spread the classic spread on both sides of the cut-out bread from the quarter. Toast the breads on both side until golden. In the same pan drizzle oil and fry the eggs to soft-medium. Spoon the atchar into the hollow centres of the quartered bread. Add the chips, tomato sauce, hot sauce, cheese, burger patties, bacon, eggs, and topped with the toasted bread. Serve immediately
Chefs Tip:You can add as many toppings to your Kota Sandwich as you prefer – go big or go home
